A Celebration of Life will be held for Mrs. Joyce Tucker on Monday, November 27, 2023, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Service and interment to follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Children's Minister/Director

Praise God, our Church is growing, and our ministry needs are expanding! We have an exciting opportunity for a leader who believes that children's ministry is not just church child care, but true discipleship. If God has called you to help ensure that the youngest among the church know Him and understand the Gospel, then this opportunity is for you!   
Primary Goal: Ensure the safe, effective discipleship and/or care of children from nursery through Elementary school. Equip parents to continue the discipleship process at home.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Recruit, train, and oversee children's ministry volunteers for each aspect of children’s ministry.
  2. Research and provide a creative, interactive curriculum for all teachers. 
  3. Provide oversight to the weekly Kids’ Church service.
  4. Teach at least two kids’ classes per week.
  5. Provide resources and support for parents, including being available to assist parents as needed. 
  6. Plan and oversee children's outreach programs such as Centershot, Upward, TrailLife, etc. 
  7. Provide a monthly activity outside of church time for the Kids’ Ministry. 
  8. Produce a monthly children’s ministry newsletter and a weekly bulletin post.
  9. Prepare an annual calendar that can be shared with parents to provide ample time for planning. 
  10. Enthusiastically promote the children’s ministry
  11. Promptly, reach out to visitors who have children. 
  12. Ensure a children’s ministry aspect for every church-wide service and special event. 
  13. As much as possible, coordinate with the pastor to ensure that the children’s ministry's discipleship efforts align with other church focuses.
  14. Plan, propose, and maintain an annual budget.
  15. Plan and participate in an annual kids’ camp. 
  16. Attend the weekly staff meeting
  17. Keep the pastor well-informed of any issues or needs concerning children and families. 
  18. Assist the Senior Pastor in the overall care of the church as assigned. 

Expected Regular Schedule
Weekly Staff Meeting, 1.5 hrs, Church Services, 5.5 hrs, Regular Office Hours, 12hrs,  Events, 2 hrs.

Compensation: Salary will be calculated based on experience and education.

Job Requirements
  1. Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ whose life is known to others to bear the fruit of the Spirit. 
  2. Must be actively involved in a local church of like faith (or MZBC) with faithful attendance and actively volunteering or serving. 
  3. Must have experience working with and leading children.
  4. Must be able to clearly articulate theological matters in a manner that is understandable to children of various ages as well as their parents. 
  5. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and be free of any allegations of misconduct concerning children. 
  6. Must have a testimony of calling into the children's ministry.   

Preferred Skills/Attributes (Not necessary to apply)
  1. Bachelor's degree with relevance to ministry or education. 
  2. Ordained Minister or eligibility and desire to become so.
  3. Understanding of Google Workspace, Canva, Band Ap.
