Biblical Soul Care
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

HOW MUCH DOES CARE COST AT MT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH (MZBC)?

All Biblical Soul Care at MZBC is free to you and offered at no charge.

WHAT TYPES OF THINGS DO YOU PROVIDE CARE FOR?

We seek to provide Biblical Soul Care for any area of sin or suffering in the Christian’s life. This includes but certainly is not limited to the issues of depression, anxiety, anger, fear of man, self-harm, suicidal ideation, relationship conflict, trauma, sexual sin, and difficulty in decision-making.

WHO PROVIDES THE CARE AND ARE THEY STATE-CERTIFIED?

We offer Biblical Soul Care with both biblical counselors in certification training and lay counselors. Our biblical counselors in certification training are inroled in the certification process with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). None of our counselors have received State licensing for Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, Addiction Counseling, Licensed Advanced Social Work, or any other state licensures. In this, we do not offer licensed counseling in the State of Kentucky but instead offer Biblical Soul Care from a Christian worldview that aligns with our Mt. Zion Baptist Church Doctrinal and Belief Statement.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIBLICAL COUNSELING AND LAY BIBLICAL SOUL CARE AT MZBC?

The difference between biblical counseling and lay biblical soul care is both the scope of care and duration of care. Our biblical counselors create formal, intentional, and deacon-advised care plans for each of their counselees. Our lay soul care consists of more informal discipleship conversations in less formal settings, reflecting more of an everyday discipleship relationship.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ME?

Your next step is to create an account in our Biblicare system and complete the initial surveys. After this, someone from our team will schedule a follow up phone call with you to discuss what options are available to you and pray with you as you discern your next steps. If you decide to pursue Biblical Soul Care at MZBC, we’ll ask that you complete our Consent to Counsel Form and a Personal Data Inventory Questionnaire (PDI). These forms help us provide informed and intentional Biblical Soul Care to you in this season of your life.
