Biblical Soul Care
Mt. Zion Baptist Church (MZBC) provides Biblical Soul Care to both members and non-members. Our desire is to help people experience the hope, help, and healing found in Jesus Christ and His Word.
Because we believe that Biblical Soul Care is most effective when it takes place within the context of the local church, we seek to work alongside your church whenever possible. We recognize and respect the spiritual authority, care, and discipleship ministry of your local church and desire to support—not replace—the pastoral care you receive there.
Member of Another Church:
If you are a member of another church, we will ask both you and your pastor to complete a Pastor Recommendation Form. Whenever possible, we encourage your pastor to identify one or more spiritually mature leaders who can serve as Advocates during the counseling process. When a married couple receives care together, separate Advocates are typically requested for the husband and wife so that each spouse receives personal encouragement, accountability, and discipleship support throughout the counseling process. This may include your pastor, an elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher, small group leader, or another mature believer approved by your pastor.
If requested by both you and your pastor, MZBC may provide Advocate support during the counseling process. With your permission, we will seek to maintain appropriate communication with your pastor or designated church leader throughout the counseling process.
The Advocate serves as a source of encouragement, accountability, and ongoing care during the counseling process and helps provide continued support after counseling has concluded.
Not a Member of a Church:
If you are not currently attending a Bible-preaching church, we will ask you to begin participating in Mt. Zion Baptist Church during the course of your care. We believe that ongoing spiritual growth, discipleship, and long-term care are best experienced through active participation in a local church.
