Tim Batts: Candidate for Director of Music & Media

Our Pastor and Deacons believe God has lead us to the right man for the position of Director of Music & Media.
Tim Batts is an experienced musician and has professional experience in audio and media production. He is the host of The Worship Leaders Tool Box Podcast and owner of Batts Music & Media. Tim is passionate about leading a team of worshipers. His goal is to guide the church in worshipping Jesus Christ with a variety of styles from contemporary worship to traditional hymns.
Tim and his wife Rhonda enjoy spending time with their grown children and grandkids. Family is a very important part of their life. Tim loves to spend time writing and recording music. Tim's love for God and others is put on full display as he volunteers to sing and play for those in local nursing homes. We believe you will love Tim's friendly and fun disposition as well as his Christ centered focus on leading others to use their gifts and talents for the Lord.

Music & Media Ministry Vision Plan Submitted by Tim.
1. Initial Transition Plan (First 90 Days)
A. Observation & Evaluation
• Meet individually with team members (musicians, vocalists, sound/media volunteers) to hear their thoughts, dreams, and concerns.
• Attend all rehearsals and services without making major changes. Observe flow, style, strengths, and challenges.
• Evaluate equipment and workflow for audio, video, livestream, lighting, etc.
• Audit song library to understand the church’s musical culture and theological alignment.
B. Relationship Building
• Get to know staff and leadership—take them out for coffee or lunch.
• Visit small groups, Sunday school classes, or fellowships to become a familiar face in the church body.
• Host an informal hangout (pizza/game night) for the worship and media teams.
2. Vision & Strategy for Music Ministry
A. Short-Term Goals
• Solidify a consistent worship team culture.
• Add spiritual/theological depth by spending time together in prayer and study.
• Introduce new songs as needed each month with proper practice and devotional context.
• Create a weekly devotional moment during rehearsal for spiritual growth.
B. Long-Term Vision
• Develop a worship culture that is Spirit-led, theologically sound, and musically excellent.
• Train youth and new members to serve musically (intergenerational involvement) to possibly train up a youth band eventually.
• Start a choir to worship along during the service and have special performances.
• Host seasonal nights of worship or special music nights such as 5th Sunday type singings. Also work to have groups come in to sing for special music events.
• Encourage original songwriting and creative expressions of worship.
3. Vision & Strategy for Media Ministry
A. Livestream & Presentation
• Streamline Sunday livestream with quality sound, graphics, lyrics, and transitions.
• Evaluate all aspects including audio mixing and graphics packages (lower-thirds, countdowns etc.)
• Ensure lyrics and sermon slides are prepped mid-week (using ProPresenter, Canva, etc.)
B. Communication & Promotion
• Help the church tell its story better through photo, video, and testimony content.
• Build a volunteer media team—photographers, video editors, social media helpers.
• Keep website and social media consistent, warm, and engaging.
4. Building Team Culture & Morale
A. Team Connection & Care
• Monthly Team Nights with food, games, and worship/devotional moments.
• Celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and accomplishments.
• Give personal encouragement—texts, notes, shoutouts in rehearsal.
B. Training & Growth
• Hold quarterly workshops for worship and tech skills (open to teens too).
• Offer shadowing and mentoring for new recruits.
• Bring in guests for specialized training or encouragement (e.g., worship leaders, media consultants).
C. Fun Ideas
• Cookout or bonfire night with music, and testimonies.
• Worship team retreat for vision-casting and bringing other worship teams together..
• Music & Media Olympics: team-based challenges around sound mixing, chord changes, lyric syncing, etc.
